No - The cat flap/catflap must be glass fitting and circular as it is very expensive to cut a square hole, although not impossible.
Cat flaps come with a kit that includes a paper template that guides you exactly where to drill. With the help of markings, drill a hole in to each corner of the template. Once you have done with drilling the holes, you can get the shape of your cat flap accordingly. These are great for wooden, UPVC/plastic and metal doors, but would recommend a professionaal for anything to do with glass.
No - The glass in the door should already be toughened and you can not cut toughened glass, so we will need to replace the unit (worth hanging on to the double glazed unit we take ut as should you move or need to put this back at a later date will save you some money).
Yes - as cat flaps come in different sizes, models, automatic etc. it is best to talk to us first in order that you can ask all the questions you require answered on the most popular brands. We offer a selection of cat flaps and pet doors, we highly recommend that you take a brief look at the options prior to making a decision. We have added a link from our site to some of the most popular brands.
It varies, but usually takes around 1 hour to install a cat flap in wood, UPVC, metal or a composite door, if it is a cat flap in glass or a double glazed unit, the glass will be toughened safety glass and usually take 3-5 working days to remanufacture and about 30 minuites to install again subject to type and style of door or frame.
We're afraid not as the glass is already toughened when you try to cut it and the glass would break into hundreds of thousands of pieces!
Just be prepared to be a bit more patient with older cats who may not have used a cat flap before. Use a food reward for your cat and try playing in close by so they get used to being nect to it. Leave the flap open so they can see outside as curiosity will entice them closer until they eventually go through it.
